Pakistani Navy ship PNS Hunain returns to harbour after collision with Indian warship
Pakistan Navy's PNS Hunain has returned to harbour following a collision with an Indian Navy warship in the North Arabian Sea on September 15. The incident occurred in international waters approximately 220 kilometres east of Oman, when the Pakistani vessel approached an Indian frontline warship conducting routine surveillance at high speed and manoeuvred in an unsafe manner.
The Pakistani ship, identified as a Yarmook-class corvette, sustained severe damage in the collision. India's Ministry of External Affairs stated that the incident caused no major damage to the Indian vessel. According to Indian sources, despite "extreme provocation" from the Pakistani side, the Indian Navy captain exercised restraint during the encounter in rough seas.
The collision has triggered a formal diplomatic protest from New Delhi. The incident raises questions about maritime conduct between the two nations and falls under a 35-year-old India-Pakistan agreement governing high-seas encounters.
