India successfully manufactures and test-fires indigenous AK-203 assault rifle at Amethi facility

India has achieved a significant milestone in indigenous defence manufacturing with the successful development and test-firing of the AK-203 'Sher' assault rifle at its Amethi facility. The rifle represents a 100% indigenous production achievement, marking a major step toward self-reliance in small arms manufacturing.
The test-firing confirms the operational readiness of the weapon system developed and produced entirely within India. The AK-203, known as 'Sher' in its Indian designation, is expected to strengthen the country's defence capabilities and reduce dependence on imported firearms.
