India-US tariff tensions rise over Russian oil purchases
The United States has imposed tariffs on Indian goods, citing New Delhi's continued purchases of Russian oil. Washington also proposed tariffs on countries reducing dependence on Russian energy sources, creating a new flashpoint in India-U.S. relations.
India has warned that these tariff actions could adversely affect bilateral trade and engagement between the two nations. Despite the tensions, both countries are working towards negotiating a limited trade deal and have stated their aim to double bilateral trade.
