Indian Army successfully tests Garud Astra 120mm mortar system

The Indian Army successfully tested the Garud Astra 120mm vehicle-mounted mortar system on Thursday at the Mhow Infantry School in Indore district, Madhya Pradesh. Developed by defence company Nibe Limited in partnership with a foreign equipment manufacturer, the system was created under the Make-in-India and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives to meet modern operational needs.
The Garud Astra is a wheeled mortar system designed for rapid deployment with quick repositioning capabilities. Its vehicle-mounted configuration enhances mobility compared to traditional mortar systems, offering greater accuracy and operational safety.
The BJP shared a video of the successful test on its official X handle, stating that the system would significantly enhance the Indian Army's firepower capabilities.
