11 Indian crew injured after merchant vessel hit by projectile in Strait of Hormuz

Eleven Indian crew members were injured on Tuesday after the Panama-flagged merchant vessel MT On Peace was struck by a projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. The vessel carried a total crew of 19 members, including 17 Indian nationals. According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), 12 crew members sustained injuries in the strike, with 11 of them being Indian nationals.
India condemned the attack in a strong statement from the MEA. "We condemn the attack earlier today on a Panama-flagged commercial vessel MT On Peace off the coast of Oman, where it was struck by a projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz," the MEA said. The ministry noted that continuing incidents of attacks on shipping in the region remain a "cause of deep concern" for India and called for "an immediate cessation of such attacks in the interests of peace and stability in the region."
With assistance from Omani authorities, the injured crew members were evacuated to Khasab, Oman, where they are receiving medical treatment. The MEA expressed gratitude for Oman's support, stating: "We thank the Omani authorities for their valuable support." India reiterated its call for navigation and commerce through international waterways to be restored at the earliest.
