Indian Navy destroyer collides with Pakistani warship in disputed waters

Pakistan lodged a strong protest against India on Thursday after an Indian Navy vessel allegedly collided with a Pakistani warship in Pakistan's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). Pakistan's Foreign Ministry summoned the Charge d'Affaires at the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, calling the incident provocative and unacceptable.
According to Pakistan's account, the collision occurred on 15 September 2026 during Pakistan Navy's biennial exercise SEASPARK-26. Pakistan claims an Indian naval destroyer performed aggressive maneuvers near Pakistani Navy ship PNS Hunain (F-273), resulting in contact that damaged the Pakistani vessel's bow. The ship returned to port for repairs.
Pakistan accused India of violating international law and a 1991 bilateral agreement on advance notification of military exercises. Islamabad demanded India strictly adhere to international conventions and bilateral agreements governing maritime incidents.
