Indian Railways nears 100% electrification with only 191 km remaining

Indian Railways is on the verge of achieving near-complete electrification of its network. Only 191 route kilometres remain to be electrified across three states, marking significant progress toward the goal of a fully electrified rail system.
The remaining electrification work is spread across a small portion of the network, with projects underway to connect the last segments. Once completed, Indian Railways will have one of the world's most extensively electrified railway networks.
Electrification of railway lines reduces dependence on diesel, lowers operational costs, and decreases carbon emissions. The push toward full electrification aligns with India's broader sustainability and energy efficiency objectives in the transport sector.
