Iran receives US response to war-ending proposal

Iranian officials indicated Wednesday they have received an official U.S. response to Tehran's latest proposal to end the seven-month war, though they did not disclose whether the response constituted a rejection. The development comes after U.S. President Donald Trump publicly dismissed the plan just days earlier. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi presented the U.S. response to President Masoud Pezeshkian at a Cabinet meeting, government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani told the state-run IRNA news agency.
Pezeshkian stated that Iran would make every effort to advance the agreement while firmly defending Iranian interests. "The agreement must now be based on a win-win strategy," he said. The Cabinet meeting followed Araghchi's return from New York, where he attended the United Nations General Assembly and held indirect talks with U.S. officials. During the UN gathering, Iranian officials also met with Qatari and Pakistani mediators on the sidelines of the annual assembly.
The diplomatic exchange occurs as Iran's oil and fuel exports have rebounded closer to pre-war levels through the use of alternate shipping routes that bypass traditional channels. The response reflects ongoing diplomatic communications between the two countries amid continued regional tensions.
