Israel Warns US Of Turkey's Alleged Plans To Deploy Defence Assets In Syria

Israel has informed the United States that Turkey was preparing to deploy a radar system and air-defence assets at Abu al-Duhur military airport in northwest Syria, according to Israeli state-owned Kan TV News. Israeli security officials told Washington that the alleged Turkish move could significantly alter the regional balance of power, though no specific timeline was provided for the deployment.
Israel conducted air strikes on the Syrian airbase on Tuesday, which an Israeli official said were aimed at preventing the arrival of Turkish equipment or troops by air. Defence Minister Israel Katz cited "clear intelligence" about Turkey's intentions to act in ways that would endanger Israel's security. Katz stated that Syria received a diplomatic warning before the strikes and that senior Syrian officials were directly warned by the Israeli army in an attempt to prevent the move.
