Karnataka CM ready to discuss Mekedatu dam project with Tamil Nadu
Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has expressed willingness to hold talks with Tamil Nadu over the proposed Mekedatu dam project. He stressed that the initiative, designed to supply drinking water to Bengaluru and generate electricity, will not compromise Tamil Nadu's allocated share of Cauvery river waters.
The two states have long contested over Cauvery river allocation and usage. Shivakumar's statement indicates Karnataka's intent to resolve the dispute through dialogue while pursuing the dam development.
