Karnataka: Wife and Lover Arrested for Poisoning Ex-Soldier for ₹2 Crore Insurance

In Belagavi district, Karnataka, police have arrested nine people in connection with the death of former soldier Sandeep Manjaragi. His wife Suma and her lover Pundalika Dombar allegedly conspired to poison him to claim nearly ₹2 crore in insurance benefits. The plot unraveled three months later when a WhatsApp status by the lover raised suspicions among family members.
Arrested alongside the accused couple are Belagavi FSL senior scientist N Nagaraj, laboratory assistant Channaiah, a hospital ward boy, and Ashoka Gujanala, a clerk at Belagavi City Police Commissioner's office. These officials allegedly helped conceal evidence to support the insurance claim. Sandeep, who ran a tea shop after leaving the Army, was unaware of the relationship between his wife and Pundalika, whom he had hired to manage the shop.
