Karnataka High Court mandates 'parenting time' over 'visitation' in custody cases

The Karnataka High Court has ordered all courts in the state to use the term 'parenting time' instead of 'visitation' in child custody cases. The court noted that calling it 'parenting time' recognises the reality that no parent is merely a 'visitor' in a child's life.
The directive applies to all family courts and judicial officers handling custody disputes. The terminology shift aims to reflect the substantive parental relationship and responsibilities involved when a parent spends time with their child.
