Karnataka plans to raise Rs 50,000 crore for development ahead of 2028 elections

The cash-strapped Karnataka government is planning to mobilise Rs 50,000 crore over the next two years to fund development works ahead of the 2028 state elections. The capital will be deployed across three main areas: Public Works Department, rural roads, and urban development initiatives.
Proposals related to the mobilisation plan are yet to be formally presented before the state Cabinet. The move comes as the government seeks to accelerate infrastructure projects and bolster developmental activities in the run-up to the elections.
