Karnataka forms SIT to probe fraudulent insurance claims per Supreme Court directions

Karnataka has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate fraudulent insurance claims across the state, acting on Supreme Court directions. The SIT has been granted jurisdiction throughout Karnataka and designated as a police station under Section 2(1)(u) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.

The move follows judicial intervention to address systematic insurance fraud. The team's establishment as a formal police station enables it to conduct investigations with statutory authority across all districts in the state.
