Karnataka to track cancer patients following fake drug seizure

Following a bust of fake drugs, Karnataka's health department is moving to track cancer patients and strengthen oversight of pharmaceutical supplies. Health Minister U.T. Khader said the department has written to Pfizer headquarters requesting the release of reference standards. These standards will help laboratories, doctors, and pharmaceutical firms differentiate between genuine and counterfeit drugs in the market.
The measure aims to prevent distribution of fake medications to vulnerable patients undergoing cancer treatment. Officials are working to establish better verification mechanisms across the state's medical ecosystem.
