Kerala's New Secretariat Project Stirs Fishing Communities' Fears

Fishing communities in Kerala have raised concerns over the proposed new Secretariat and Assembly complex project, viewing it as a threat to their livelihoods rather than a political matter. The 25.55-acre site designated for the project, approved via Government Order before Chief Minister C Joseph's recent London visit, is currently unoccupied.
However, residents of nearby fishing villages fear the development could lead to displacement and disruption of their traditional occupations. The project has drawn opposition from local populations who depend on the area for their survival.
