Konaseema Railway Line remains stalled 25 years after groundbreaking

The 57-km Kotipalli–Narsapur railway line, envisioned to include three bridges across the Godavari River, remains unfinished a quarter-century after its foundation stone was laid. The project was intended to improve connectivity and trade in the Konaseema region.
Locals and business communities have expressed frustration over successive governments' inaction on the rail link. Many residents blame elected representatives from the Godavari region for insufficient political will to advance the project. The delay has reportedly caused significant losses to local trade, commerce, and tourism sectors.
The reasons behind the project's prolonged stagnation remain unclear, leaving Konaseema without promised rail connectivity despite two decades of anticipation.
