Telangana CM Revanth Reddy removes minister Konda Surekha from cabinet over daughter's remarks

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has removed Forest and Environment Minister Konda Surekha from the state cabinet on September 3rd. The Governor has been requested to approve the removal, recommended by the Congress party's disciplinary committee. The action follows a weeks-long disciplinary row triggered by remarks made by Surekha's daughter, Konda Sushmitha Patel, against Revanth Reddy and his family.
The conflict originated in August when Sushmitha publicly challenged the CM's decision to back incumbent MLA Revuri Prakash Reddy in the Parkal constituency. She questioned his authority over ticket allocation and threatened to contest as an independent if denied the party ticket. Sushmitha also alleged that Revanth Reddy favoured family members in business dealings, citing reports of land sales to a shell company linked to his brother.
The removal reveals escalating tensions within Telangana Congress. The party's disciplinary committee chairman, Lok Sabha MP Mallu Ravi, emphasized that discipline is essential to party prestige and electoral success.
