KPSC Chairman under investigation for exam manipulation, fake certificates and bribery

Karnataka Public Service Commission Chairman Shivashankarappa S Sahukar is under investigation for multiple allegations including manipulation of recruitment examinations, misuse of authority and corruption. The KPSC chief was suspended by Karnataka Governor in July 2026 over allegations linked to his daughter Suma Sahukar's recruitment to a government post under the OBC quota, then again on 25 August following a cabinet recommendation.
The controversy has expanded significantly. Karnataka Police's Criminal Investigation Department is probing allegations of exam manipulation and question paper leaks. Sahukar was questioned over recruitment of 400 veterinary officers. On 7 September, Karnataka High Court rejected his anticipatory bail plea after the CID presented material alleging links between Sahukar, his son and an accused middleman.
The central issue involves Sahukar's daughter, recruited as Industrial Extension Officer in 2026, who submitted an income certificate showing family annual income of ₹40,000 despite her father's senior government position. Police registered a case alleging forgery and fraud over the certificate.
