Maulana Shahabuddin demands Muslim CM face from SP, gives 30-day ultimatum

Muslim cleric Maulana Shahabuddin has escalated criticism of Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav, questioning the party's representation of Muslims ahead of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. In a video message, Shahabuddin demanded that the SP announce a Muslim chief ministerial face for the polls.

Shahabuddin argued that the Muslim population in Uttar Pradesh is significantly larger than the Yadav population, questioning why Akhilesh Yadav continues to be projected as the party's CM face. The cleric issued a 30-day ultimatum to the SP leadership on the matter.
