Slovakia PM Robert Fico Welcomes Modi in Matching Nehru Jacket, Gift From Earlier Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted a state visit to Slovakia from June 14 to June 16, 2026, the first-ever visit by an Indian PM to the Central European nation since its independence in 1993. The trip aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation across key sectors.
Upon arrival in Bratislava, PM Modi was received by Slovakia's Foreign Minister Juraj Blanar and given full state honours by Prime Minister Robert Fico. The two leaders were photographed wearing traditional Indian Nehru jackets in matching shades, creating a striking visual moment.
PM Modi later revealed on social media that Fico wore a jacket he had previously gifted him. "Prime Minister Fico wore a jacket I had gifted him. And, coincidentally our jacket colours matched today!" Modi wrote, sharing the interaction. The gesture was widely praised as a symbol of growing warmth between the two nations.
