Monsoon Advance Slows; Several States Wait Until June 23

The monsoon's northward advance has slowed across India. According to the India Meteorological Department, the monsoon's northern boundary currently passes through Harnai, Solapur, Hyderabad, Bhadrachalam, Koraput, Phulbani, Ranchi, Jamui and Muzaffarpur. A seasonal trough stretches from Punjab to Bihar, while a western disturbance persists near northern Pakistan, affecting northern India's weather patterns.
Telangana, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar and Chhattisgarh remain unable to welcome the monsoon due to unfavourable atmospheric conditions. The IMD expects the situation to change within four to five days as conditions become suitable for monsoon advancement.
Meanwhile, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh face a dual alert—scattered rainfall and heat waves continuing simultaneously, complicating weather conditions in the northwest.
