Deficient monsoon, weak September rainfall pose risks to rabi crops: Crisil
Renewed weakening of rainfall in August combined with expectations of below-normal September precipitation could pose risks to India's upcoming rabi season, according to Crisil. The agency flagged cotton, bajra, maize, tur, groundnut and soybean as particularly vulnerable to the rainfall deficit.
Rainfall deficiency has widened to 14%, while the forecast for September indicates below-normal rainfall across the country. The warning underscores growing concerns over agricultural output in the coming season.
