Opposition, BJP Demand Punjab CM Mann's Resignation Over ₹5 Crore Rape Case Allegation

The BJP has joined the Opposition's demand for Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's resignation following allegations that his wife, Gurpreet Kaur, sought ₹5 crore to suppress a rape case. The National Human Rights Commission issued a notice to the Punjab government and its police chief, seeking a report within two weeks.
BJP leader Iqbal Singh Lalpura called the NHRC notice a serious development and demanded an independent investigation. The Shiromani Akali Dal and Congress have also pressed for Mann's resignation ahead of Punjab Assembly elections. Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring said Mann should clarify the allegations immediately.
Meanwhile, Gurpreet Kaur issued a legal notice to former Punjab judge Justice Ranjit Singh over the allegations. The AAP rejected the claims as baseless, with its women's wing chief accusing the Opposition of pursuing a political agenda.
