No Government or Settlement Can Bar Citizens from Approaching Courts: Supreme Court
The Supreme Court has held that neither the government nor any settlement agreement can restrict a citizen's fundamental right to approach the courts. The observation came in the context of a Haryana land matter where the state government had acquired over 1,500 acres in Panchkula for development and subsequently sold plots to individuals. As compensation payable to farmers increased over the years, authorities issued additional demand notices to plot buyers for corresponding increases in plot prices.
