Northeast Monsoon Expected Over Southern India by Mid-October

The India Meteorological Department has signalled the withdrawal of southwest monsoon conditions as easterly winds are expected to establish over the Gulf of Thailand by October 14. This development is anticipated to trigger the onset of the northeast monsoon over southern India.
Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Maharashtra, and Mahe are currently experiencing rainfall and thunderstorm activity. The shift in wind patterns marks a transitional phase between monsoon systems that typically affects weather patterns across the southern peninsula.
