Odisha auditors arrested for demanding bribes from school students

The Odisha vigilance department has arrested two auditors for allegedly demanding bribes of ₹10 per student from government-run residential schools. The department seized ₹14,38,340 in cash kept in envelopes from the accused auditors.
The arrests come after complaints emerged about the unusual practice of extracting small sums from students during audits. The recovered amount suggests a systematic collection scheme across multiple institutions.
The case highlights corruption at grassroots administrative levels in the state education system and has prompted vigilance authorities to investigate whether other officials were involved in similar practices.
