Odisha student elections resume after 8-year gap

Odisha is set to hold student union elections on its campuses for the first time in eight years, marking a significant resumption of democratic processes in educational institutions across the state.
The three major political parties — BJP, Congress, and the regional Biju Janata Dal (BJD) — are each expressing confidence in their chances in the elections. Student politics has traditionally served as a testing ground for party cadres and ideological outreach in educational settings.
The return of campus polls reflects renewed emphasis on student engagement and democratic participation within Odisha's universities and colleges.
