BJP Kicks Off 15-Day Bihar Drive to Rebut Opposition's Voter-Deletion Charges Over SIR

The Bharatiya Janata Party has launched a 15-day campaign in Bihar aimed at countering Opposition protests against the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. Titled 'Loktantra Bachao, Bheedtantra Hatao' (Save Democracy, Remove Mobocracy), the drive started on October 22 and runs until November 5. It will feature rallies, press conferences, and interactions with students, young people and civil society groups.
BJP state president Sanjay Saraogi and state organisation general secretary Bhikhubhai Dalsania reviewed the strategy with state office-bearers on Wednesday. The party intends to explain its position on the electoral process across the state, focusing on the accuracy of rolls, protection of voting rights, accountability of parties and public confidence in democratic institutions. The BJP has accused the Congress and the CPI(M) of spreading misleading claims about the revision.
Beyond public meetings, the party will rely on social media and influencers under the theme 'Ghuspethiya Hatao, Loktantra Bachao' (Remove Infiltrators, Save Democracy), and will distribute booklets and other publicity material. The campaign also targets the Cockroach Janta Party over its criticism of the exercise.
The Opposition's protests centre on claims that large numbers of names have been removed from the rolls. BJP media in-charge Danish Eqbal challenged critics to name even one wrongfully deleted voter, arguing that removed names belonged to people who had died, moved away or were registered at multiple locations. Opposition parties, however, maintain that the revision has deleted crores of names and raised concerns about the inclusiveness of the rolls.
