Punjab CM opposes FIRs against farmers for stubble burning

Punjab Chief Minister Mann has expressed opposition to filing FIRs against farmers engaged in stubble burning. Stubble burning in Punjab and Haryana is frequently linked to increased air pollution in the Delhi-NCR region during winter months.
Farmers resort to burning crop residue due to the tight agricultural calendar. After harvesting paddy in October and November, they face a narrow window to prepare fields for the Rabi crop, particularly wheat. This time constraint often compels them to burn stubble as a quick clearing method.
