Former Rajasthan Minister Issued Show-Cause Notice After Congress Exit Announcement

The Rajasthan Congress issued a show-cause notice to former minister Vishvendra Singh on Friday, hours after he announced his exit from the party. The notice, issued by the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee's disciplinary committee, cited alleged indiscipline and anti-party activities. Singh was given seven days to respond and asked why disciplinary action, including termination of his primary membership, should not be taken against him.
The charges against Singh included staying away from party programmes and important meetings, not participating in candidate selection or campaigning during recent urban local body elections, and allegedly instructing the Congress-supported candidate to withdraw from the Bharatpur Municipal Corporation chairperson election, allowing the BJP candidate to win unopposed. The notice also accused Singh of questioning the ability of Congress district presidents in Bharatpur and Deeg, and making statements against PCC chief Govind Singh Dotasra on social media. The notice was based on complaints from Congress district presidents of Bharatpur and Deeg.
Singh responded on social media, saying the party was free to take action against him and he was equally free to decide his political future. "You are free to take your action, and I am free regarding my political future," Singh said in a post. Singh, who served as a cabinet minister in the Ashok Gehlot government, had announced his resignation from Congress earlier that morning, two days after levelling allegations against Dotasra and accusing the party's Bharatpur and Deeg units of sidelining "actual party workers" in local body polls.
