RBI raises FY27 GDP growth forecast to 7.1% on stronger economic performance

The Reserve Bank of India has revised its fiscal year 2026-27 GDP growth forecast upward to 7.1%, compared to its previous estimate of 6.7%. The revision follows stronger-than-expected economic performance, with the June quarter recording 7.1% growth.
The central bank also raised the policy repo rate to 5.5% and shifted its policy stance to calibrated tightening, reflecting its approach to managing inflation concerns. Despite these adjustments, domestic consumption indicators remain resilient.
The RBI's revised forecast suggests sustained economic momentum, though global headwinds and persistent inflation pressures continue to pose challenges to growth.
