Real Madrid Sign Bernardo Silva on Free Transfer from Manchester City

Real Madrid have completed the signing of Portuguese midfielder Bernardo Silva on a free transfer following his contract expiration at Manchester City. The 31-year-old has signed a two-year agreement with the Spanish club until June 30, 2028.

Silva spent nine successful years at Manchester City, making 460 appearances and winning six Premier League titles, three FA Cups, five League Cups and the UEFA Champions League. The versatile midfielder earned 109 caps for Portugal and won the UEFA Nations League twice.

The signing is part of Real Madrid's major summer overhaul under returning head coach Jose Mourinho. The club recently also secured Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella from Chelsea for an initial £47.5 million, as they look to bounce back from a disappointing 2025-26 season.
