RJD May Revamp Bihar Unit After MLC Polls, New State Chief Likely

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) is likely to witness a significant restructuring of its organisational setup after the upcoming Legislative Council elections, with party leader Tejashwi Yadav expected to spearhead a fresh strategy aimed at strengthening the organisation ahead of future political battles in Bihar.
Sources within the party indicate that discussions are underway for a comprehensive overhaul that could result in changes across several key organisational positions. The post of Bihar RJD president is also under review, with speculation growing over the future of the current state chief, Mangani Lal Mandal.
As part of the exercise, Tejashwi Yadav is expected to hold a series of consultations with district-level leaders, office-bearers and grassroots workers. The meetings are likely to focus on improving booth-level coordination, expanding the party's outreach, and evaluating the performance of existing organisational units.
The anticipated restructuring comes amid internal debates over party functioning. In recent weeks, Mandal had publicly raised concerns regarding organisational discipline and communication within the party. He reportedly expressed dissatisfaction over important programmes being conducted without adequate coordination with senior leaders and stressed the need for adherence to party procedures.
With the possibility of leadership changes gathering momentum, several names have emerged as potential contenders for the state president's post. Among them, former minister Kumar Sarvajeet is considered a strong candidate due to his close association with both RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav. The Bodh Gaya MLA is regarded as an influential figure within the party organisation.
Another prominent name being discussed is Alok Mehta, a former Member of Parliament and current MLA from Ujiarpur. Known for his organisational experience and strong grassroots connect, Mehta is seen as a leader capable of managing the party's cadre network across the state.
RJD MP Sudhakar Singh has also emerged as a possible contender. The son of former Bihar RJD president Jagdanand Singh, Sudhakar remains an influential voice within the party and is viewed as a leader with strong support among sections of the cadre.
