Karnataka may challenge Supreme Court-backed Cauvery water order

Karnataka is considering approaching the Supreme Court against orders to release 6,000 cusecs of water daily from the Cauvery River. The Cauvery Water Regulation Committee recommended the daily release, which was subsequently upheld by the Cauvery Water Management Authority.
Karnataka officials argue the directive is impossible to implement, citing declining water inflows into the state and pressing drinking water requirements. The state government is seriously evaluating filing a petition in the near future to challenge the order.
