Only 15% of workers use public transport for commuting: NSO survey

The National Household Travel Survey reveals that only 15% of workers commute using public transport, highlighting a heavy reliance on private vehicles. The data shows that 46% of workers depend on two-wheelers and cars for their journey to work, a trend contributing to rising traffic congestion across cities.
Walking remains the second most common commute mode, with 28.3% of workers traveling on foot. However, student commuting patterns show a different picture, with 37% of students walking to educational institutions.
