Skymet cuts monsoon forecast to 85% of average, warns of drought risk

Skymet has revised its monsoon rainfall forecast downward to 85% of the long-period average, warning of significant drought risk for Indian agriculture. The forecast agency attributes the reduced rainfall to the impact of strong El Niño conditions. According to Skymet's assessment, there is a 70% probability of drought occurrence during the monsoon season, which could affect crop production across the country.
