Ladakh begins revival of Tso Kar glacial lake

The Ladakh administration has initiated an ambitious project to revive the Tso Kar glacial lake by channeling glacier water towards it. The initiative aims to restore the lake's ecosystem within a year, building on the success of a prior water diversion project near Leh.

Local villagers have raised concerns about the lake's ecological deterioration and its wider environmental impact. The revival effort includes plans to establish new wetlands and habitats to support migratory bird populations in the region.
