Farmers in Maharashtra and Karnataka protest for higher sugarcane prices

Farmers in Maharashtra and Karnataka have staged protests demanding an upward revision of sugarcane pricing policies. The protesters are seeking a minimum selling price (MSP) of ₹60 and a fair and remunerative price (FRP) above ₹4,500 per tonne for their produce.
The agitation reflects growing discontent among sugarcane cultivators over existing price structures, which they argue do not adequately compensate their production costs and labour expenses. The protests span two major sugarcane-producing states in India.
The demands highlight the persistent concerns of farmers regarding agricultural pricing and their push for government intervention to ensure better returns for their crops.
