Tamil Politics Made Me Jealous: Pawan Kalyan’s Remark On Vijay

Pawan Kalyan has triggered fresh political discussion after openly admitting that he felt “jealous” while watching the rapid political rise of actor-turned-politician Vijay in Tamil Nadu.
Speaking at a public event while reflecting on his long political journey, the Janasena chief said politics in Tamil Nadu appeared far easier compared to the struggles he faced over the last 15 years in Andhra Pradesh.
“I was watching Tamil politics recently. They did politics so effortlessly and comfortably. How easily they managed it! It actually made me jealous,” Pawan Kalyan said while addressing party workers.
In a light-hearted but sharp comment, he added, “Just by setting up cutouts and holograms, they beautifully went on to become Chief Ministers. But as for me, even after being dragged on the streets for 15 years…”
The remarks quickly went viral on social media, especially because Pawan Kalyan had earlier avoided direct comparisons between politics in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
The actor-politician also spoke about the difficulties of building and managing a political party from the ground level.
“Managing a political party means uniting hundreds of thousands of people. We can't even get our own family members to agree on a single thing,” he remarked.
Pawan Kalyan launched the Jana Sena Party in 2014 and initially struggled to establish a strong political base.
In the 2019 elections, the party managed to win only one seat while Kalyan himself lost both constituencies he contested from.
However, the political scenario changed dramatically during the 2024 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections when the Janasena emerged as a key force in the NDA alliance alongside the TDP and BJP.
The party achieved a remarkable clean sweep by winning all 21 Assembly seats it contested, while Pawan Kalyan secured his first Assembly victory from Pithapuram with a huge margin.
