Trump Extends $100,000 H-1B Visa Fee for Another Year

US President Donald Trump has extended by one year the $100,000 fee on employers bringing in foreign workers on H-1B visas, according to a presidential proclamation issued Friday. Trump said the 2025 decision to impose this fee has resulted in a 92 per cent decrease in H-1B registrations by large IT outsourcing firms.
Trump stated that extending the fee will protect US economic and national security interests, improve labour market access for American workers and graduates, and ensure employers recruit only highly-skilled and essential workers. Indians remain the largest beneficiary group of the H-1B visa programme.
The 2025 fee order is currently facing legal challenges in two federal courts. The extension also directs the Labour Secretary to review labour condition applications to determine whether further action against sponsoring employers is warranted.
