Trump launches Super Intelligence Task Force to lead global AI race

United States President Donald Trump announced the creation of a "Super Intelligence Force" on Sunday, stating it will work to "ensure that America continues to lead the world" in artificial intelligence. The task force will coordinate the federal government's engagement with consumers, public interest groups, religious organisations, infrastructure providers and AI companies.
The task force will be led by Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton, Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson, Pentagon chief technology officer Emil Michael, and Director of the Office of Personnel Management Scott Kupor. The body will report directly to the US President and White House chief of staff Susie Wiles.
The announcement follows Trump's recent meeting with top AI executives at the White House, where they reportedly signed a commitment to strengthen self-regulation of AI models while advocating for a light-touch regulatory approach.
