Trump Shares Pakistan PM's UN Speech Thanking Him for Ending Operation Sindoor

US President Donald Trump shared a video clip on social media Friday of Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's speech at the United Nations, in which Sharif thanked Trump's "resolute and visionary leadership" and "timely intervention" in halting Operation Sindoor. The 87-second clip, posted on Truth Social, shows Sharif referring to Operation Sindoor—launched by India in May to avenge the Pahalgam terror attack—as "external aggression" and crediting Pakistan's Army Chief Asim Munir for his "courageous leadership."
Sharif attributed to Trump's intervention the saving of millions of lives in South Asia. Trump shared the video without commentary, days after claiming in his own UN speech that he had helped settle eight wars, including the conflict between Pakistan and India. According to Trump's account, Sharif stated the US president was responsible for saving 30 million lives in South Asia. Trump also noted that almost all countries he mentioned had sent him letters thanking him for his diplomatic role.
India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in response to the April 22 Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians. New Delhi has rejected Trump's claims, asserting instead that Operation Sindoor was paused following a request from Pakistan's Director General of Military Operations to his Indian Army counterpart.
