Trump tells Americans to accept higher oil prices amid Iran tensions

US President Donald Trump appealed to Americans on Friday to accept higher petrol prices amid escalating Iran-US tensions. Speaking at a political rally in Garden City, New York, Trump said paying more for fuel is justified to ensure a hostile nation does not acquire atomic weapons.
Trump claimed he would declare the Strait of Hormuz as American territory after defeating Iran. The strategic waterway remains blocked, disrupting oil and gas shipments. Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi countered on social media that Tehran will maintain its blockade until the US accepts reality and halts what he called fantasies. Iran's Foreign Minister Araghchi said Iran has not decided to resume talks with the US.
Tensions between the two countries have escalated since February 28, with multiple failed ceasefire attempts. The standoff over Hormuz has deepened the crisis, with both nations at an impasse.
