Mortal Remains of Two Indian Seafarers Killed in US Attack Near Oman Repatriated

The mortal remains of Aditya Sharma and Shivanand Chaurasiya, who died in the attack on MT Settebello, have been repatriated to India, the Indian Embassy in Oman announced. A third deceased seafarer, Patnala Suresh, has not yet been repatriated. The embassy conveyed condolences to the families of the victims.
The development follows the repatriation of 21 rescued Indian seafarers from the same Palau-flagged vessel a day earlier. Three Indian merchant ships with crew members came under US attack off the Oman coast last week, resulting in the deaths of three seafarers. The incident has raised concerns about safety on merchant shipping routes in the region.
India lodged a strong protest with the United States following the attacks. The Ministry of External Affairs summoned US Charge d'Affaires Jason Meeks twice within a week to convey concerns over the incident.
