World will breach 1.5°C warming threshold inevitably, says UN report

The United Nations Environment Programme released a report stating that breaching the 1.5 degree Celsius warming threshold is now inevitable. The warning comes despite global climate commitments and pledges made by nations.
The report indicates that current efforts to limit temperature rise remain insufficient to prevent exceeding the internationally agreed target. The 1.5°C limit, set during the Paris Agreement, represents a critical benchmark for avoiding severe climate impacts.
The UNEP assessment underscores the urgency for accelerated climate action and stronger emission reduction measures worldwide to limit warming beyond this threshold.
