India-US Trade Has 'Incredible Potential': US Envoy Calls For Policy Stability

US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor has called the India-US economic partnership a relationship with "unbelievable and incredible potential" while urging both nations to address policy and regulatory challenges. Speaking at the IACC National Convention 2026, Gor stressed the importance of policy predictability, stronger intellectual property protections, and trust-based discussions on export controls and technology transfers.
Bilateral trade in goods and services has grown substantially over two decades, from around $20 billion to over $240 billion. The two countries aim to reach $500 billion in bilateral trade by 2030. Gor highlighted key cooperation areas including artificial intelligence, aerospace, defence and energy, noting that around 40% of generic pharmaceuticals used in the US come from India.
