US Economy Shows Resilience Amid Persistent Inflation Concerns, Says Richmond Fed Chief
The US economy is demonstrating resilience driven by strong consumer spending and growth extending beyond the technology sector, according to Richmond Federal Reserve President Tom Barkin. However, Barkin has flagged inflation as a more pressing challenge than labour market weaknesses at present.
The Federal Reserve recently raised interest rates to combat rising price pressures. Barkin pointed out that demand-driven inflation is emerging as a significant economic factor. He noted positive developments across multiple sectors, including defence and manufacturing, indicating broad-based economic activity.
