US says tanker ignored 60 warnings before strike that killed 3 Indians
A US official defended military strikes on foreign-flagged vessels, including the Settebello, that resulted in the deaths of three Indian mariners. The official stated that the tanker had ignored approximately 60 warnings before the strike occurred.
The remarks appeared aimed at reassuring Indian authorities that US forces had exercised due diligence before launching the attacks on Settebello and two other ships in the past week. However, the US has not yet expressed regret over the deaths of the Indian crew members.
