Visakhapatnam groundwater levels improve after heavy rainfall but still lag year-ago

Visakhapatnam's groundwater levels have risen following heavy monsoon rains, with the monthly average climbing 1.63 metres in September. However, district officials noted that levels remain lower than the corresponding period last year, with the real-time average at 7.20 metres below ground level as of September 29.
Authorities estimate full recharge of aquifers will require 10 to 15 additional days of favourable rainfall conditions. Officials have urged residents and institutions to adopt rainwater-harvesting measures to supplement groundwater reserves and mitigate seasonal shortages.
